Do-Able City Rail
Wednesday, September 12, 2007
I took some pictures of this rail this morning on the way to work. If you know Newcastle/Gateshead, it's just near the Millenium Bridge, on the Gateshead side.
For sure this is a do-able rail, one that I could perhaps ride myself, or at least try. It would be a boardslide. Having said that, it is pretty steep and straight on to flat which could be tricky/painful... perhaps there'll be enough snow this winter to try it out?

Urban Hand Rail...
Friday, August 17, 2007
Here's another hand rail in Newcastle. I've seen this one loads of times before and although there's probably no way on earth a rider could actually hit it, I just think it looks pretty cool.
For a start, there are a pair of lamp posts at the bottom just waiting for contact. Then, unless the rider only the bottom section, the (two) corners at the top are too sharp. And finally there's the fact that the drop to the side of the stairs is really high...
Or... could you gap the top section (all of it? or just the stair part using the bush as a run-in?) and 50-50 the bottom kink, narrowly avoiding the posts?
No way :)

Gnarly Hand Rail
Thursday, April 26, 2007
I'm not much of a rail rider, but that doesn't stop me from keeping an eye out for good hand rails; purely for interest. Sometimes I'm thinking "I wonder if I could hit that?" More often though, it's something like "that would look pretty good in a video."
Well there's a pretty gnarly hand rail just outside of the carpark that I use most days and it definitely falls in the category of potentially looking good in a video part. I'm not sure about the run mind you, but, here are a couple of photos...
